Students Sizzle with ‘Best Ever’ Success in Summer Heatwave of Achievement

Posted on: 27th Aug 2026

Today, at Sir Robert Woodard Academy, students and staff are celebrating a record-breaking set of exam results.

This year’s cohort has delivered the school’s best ever results in both English and Maths. The Geography department is also reporting stunning results with close to 30% of students achieving a grade 7 or above. Elsewhere, the students have particularly excelled in Art and French with some outstanding individual achievements.

"The energy in the Sports Hall today was electric”, said Headteacher, Kieran Scanlon. “We are very proud of all of our students and delighted that so many are continuing their educational journey with us at our ‘W6’ 6th form.”

Nathaniel Goodwin collected 6 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and a Grade 7, whilst future Prime Minister, Leo Groves, added 3 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s and a Grade 7 to last year’s early entry Grade 9 in French! Mia Hannon opted to study for GCSEs in both Geography and History, and today she picked up Grade 9s for both of these subjects. Daisy Davies, as well as having the voice of an Angel, collected Grade 9s in English Language and History, and Grade 8s in both English Literature and French.

The room was alight with smiles, with the queue for Sixth Form enrolment snaking through the middle, and Grade 9 English student Jack Drury-Sevell still busy reciting his Macbeth soliloquies to his English teacher! Right across the year group there were good news stories to be found. These results really do reflect the inclusive and ambitious spirit of one of the happiest schools in England!
