Music at SRWA

The music curriculum at the Sir Robert Woodard Academy has been designed to all all students the opportunity to develop on the knowledge and skills they have already acquired in KS2.

We aim to develop their musical skills across the areas of composing, performing and listening, exploring music from a wide range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. We also aim to develop many transferable skills and ASPIRE attributes, giving the students opportunities to be creative, evaluating their work and that of others, developing resilience and compassion.

Structure And Sequence

The music curriculum is structured to allow students the opportunity to access composition, performance and listening activities within each topic. These skills are built upon and themes develop across the years, allowing students to build upon and deepen their knowledge of music from different times, performers, genres, styles and traditions.

Destinations And The World Of Work

Our curriculum gives students the opportunity to develop their creative and collaborative skills, confidence and compassion, which are essential skills within the world of work. It teaches them to persevere when learning new skills and techniques.

Our extra curricular provision offers students the opportunities to develop their skills further and participate in a range of performances and concerts, in a variety of venues, both locally, nationally and internationally. All of these opportunities inspire and encourage the students to aspire to achieve.
