New York 2024

Posted on: 25th Mar 2024

A group of 27 year 12 students were lucky enough to experience a 10-day trip of a lifetime to New York from 7- 16 March.

The focus of the trip was a 4-day Model UN conference, the largest and most prestigious of its kind in the world. 2000 delegates from over 100 di erent countries were involved, and our students were up there with the best in terms of debating, delivering speeches and negotiating over resolutions.

In addition they saw all the famous landmarks including Time Square, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Staten Island and Central Park. They also visited the incredibly poignant memorial at Ground Zero and the 9/11 Museum. A big highlight was seeing the musical Hamilton on Broadway on their last night.

Josh Andain, Director of W6 said: "The W6 team chose to take students to New York to show them the capabilities of human endeavour in all fields - art, science, musicals, architecture - to continue our goal of helping students develop their aspirations. On the first day, after a lot of traveling, students were a mix of excitement and trepidation. By the second day, they were delivering speeches, negotiating with students from over 100 countries, and fighting their corner for what they believed in - be it climate change, the death penalty or women's rights.

"Every single student, without fail, was exceptional and by the end of the trip they were fully situated in Manhatten. We were blown away by their talent, hard work and good nature on this trip, and we are delighted to see that they have come back full of ambition, with two aiming to study in New York and all of them aiming for top careers and top universities."

An unforgettable experience for all who were lucky enough to take part.
