SRWA Students Get Creative

SRWA art students have been busy lately getting involved with two projects, the Creative Waves for Worthing’s ‘Appear on the Pier’ art exhibition and the Worthing Children’s Parade on 17th June.

Creative Waves - Earlier in the year, a group of our gifted and talented art students took part in a workshop to create an installation as part of Worthing’s ‘Appear on the Pier’ art exhibition.  The project included a visiting artist who came in and worked with the students to create a set of artwork pieces. These are now on display on Worthing Pier for a whole year, alongside other schools and local artists, including the well-known artist of Gorillaz and Tank Girl fame, Jamie Hewlett.

Worthing Children’s Parade - On 17th June, our art club students took part in the annual Worthing Children’s Parade. The theme this year was based on the books of Julia Donaldson and Julia herself attended the parade.  The book chosen by us was “Follow the Swallow” and students created their very own flock of swallows to parade through the town centre.  The weather was brilliant with bright sunshine which made the sculptures really stand out against the blue skies.
