Year 12 BTEC Music Performance – ‘Parklife'

On Tuesday 9 May, the Year 12 BTEC Music Performance students put on their own live music event in the Academy’s Alan Strong Theatre.

As part of their course the students were responsible for organising all aspects of the concert, from the theme and performers, to the venue, set, sound, lighting, song list, budgets and advertising.  Over the course of five months, the students worked together to rehearse and develop their performances as well as taking on their own individual job roles.

They decided to use the concert as a way to raise money for Cancer Research UK, with all profits going to the charity.  Their concert raised over £500, which is an incredible achievement.   The students also used the opportunity to allow some Year 11 and Year 13 students to showcase their talents too.

Overall, it was a really successful concert, which demonstrated the amazing talents of our Year 12 BTEC Music Performance students.
