Star Gazing

In the New Year, the Science Department, took a selected group of 20 students from year 7 and 8 to Sussex University to learn all about star gazing and our universe.

We travelled to the University by coach and were treated to a wonderful lunch.  Afterwards the students were involved in learning about university life by current and past students promoting them to think about further education in their own futures.  They then attended two small and interactive sessions on our universe by the University lecturers - one of which was in the planetarium!

As part of the Academy’s careers programme we have forged partnerships with the local universities, this enables us to provide our students with experiences they may not encounter in the classroom.

This is our second Key Stage 3 trip this year and we look forward to many more to come!
