Science expert helps student with project

SRWA science students, Joe Woods, Evie-May Sim and Jamie Purcell are taking part in a real life science research project into Ionic Fluids. The aim is to carry out research into ionic fluids that hasn’t been done before in the hope of presenting their findings in July.

We contacted an expert in the field, Mr Tom Welton, and he kindly agreed to come and have a chat with us. After some very interesting discussions with Mr Welton the group are going to synthesise two different ionic fluids with different anion groups and use this to perform liquid-liquid extraction of metal complexing agents.

Mr Welton has also invited us to Imperial college London to use some of their high tech equipment for our analysis which is very exciting.

Well done to all involved!
