Year 8 students 'graduate' from Sussex uni!

Yesterday, 30 year 8 students took part in a graduation ceremony, mortar boards and all, to celebrate completing the inspirational ‘Making Choices’ programme at the University of Sussex.

Since November the group of year 8s have attended a series of 8 activities and workshops over multiple visits to the University including taking part in a mock trial, making adverts and building robots. The Making Choices programme is designed to raise the aspirations of younger students and give them a taste of what university would be like.

Careers Officer Mrs Anne Morley said: “Last night was a fantastic event. So many parents and family members came along to support and I’ve had lots of messages of thanks this morning with families saying how proud they are of their children.”

Special congratulations to Beau Deacon and Keira Hull who were nominated for special awards for outstanding progress. There was also a prize draw at the event at which three of our students won Kindles.

Well done all!
