Wendy & Peter entertains old and young alike

Students from year 7 to 13 pulled out all the stops last week to put on an unforgettable school production of Wendy and Peter, a clever retelling of the classic children’s tale, Peter Pan.

With a strong performing arts tradition at SRWA and facilities to match our drama department has a reputation for producing shows of an exceptionally high standard that are a collaboration of performance disciplines. The impressive costumes, set, lighting, sound and stage management are all constructed and run by SRWA Production Arts students and staff. The lead roles of Wendy, Peter, Captain Hook and Tink plus many of the supporting roles were performed to an exceptional standard that would not be out of place on a West End stage.

Wendy & Peter was an ambitious choice of production owing to the set demands but SRWA’s technical theatre experts succeeded in creating a feast for the eyes in Tink’s den, the Jolly Roger and Neverland itself.

The audiences were a cross section of the local community from parents to primary school children and local elderly residents. All were thoroughly entertained and left with smiles on their faces- perhaps having found their 'happy thought'! One parent commented: “Wow, wow, wow! I think this was the best show we've been to. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Well acted and with plenty of humour and emotion. Great set and music too. Well done to all involved.”

If you missed out there’s still a chance to see some excerpts from the show in our Christmas Celebration this Thursday at 7pm.
