Students test nutritional value of foods

A group of Year 11 Food Preparation and Nutrition students recently took part one of their practical exam.

Some of the students selected a brief which required them to test the nutritional value of vegetables after cooking.

Before they went to the lab they had to taste all their samples to analyse flavour and texture. Mr Harman, head of science, then showed them how to test their products for Vitamin C content, enabling them to access higher marks for the exam.

These students are the first cohort to undertake this new Food Science investigation and it was great to be able to work with the science department on it.

Well done Molly, Holly, Lara and Bethany.
