UKMT Senior Maths Challenge

At the end of last year Year 12 took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, a prestigious national challenge open to all sixth Formers. Students complete a 90 minute challenge ranging across all areas of maths and using logic and mathematical knowledge competitors answer 25 questions of increasing difficulty.

Students receive Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participation awards certificates. Top scoring students in the country go on to the Mathematics Olympiad, competing as a team against other countries.

SRWA got its best results this year compared with the last 7 years:

Gold (Sean Whitehouse).

Silver (Jallee French, Ethan Goodchild).

Bronze (Jody Bridgen, Millie Scott, Cameron Searle, Oliver Stanley).

Participation (Alex Dawkins, Kiera Field, Maddison Hanley, Michael O'Brien, Millie Parsons).

Congratulations to all that took part!

This year's WSIX Mathematics Class consists of 13 students studying for an A Level. Of these, 3 students are also studying Further Mathematics. Class members typically study maths along with 2 of: physics, 3D design, chemistry, biology or business studies.

WSIX students who obtain an A Level in mathematics typically go on to study Engineering, Accountancy, Science and Mathematics at university. Recent leavers went on to study at the universities of Oxford, Warwick, Surrey, Sussex, Manchester, Bournemouth, Reading, Exeter and Brighton.
