GCSE Press Release August 2015
Sir Robert Woodard Academy
GCSE Results – August 2015
Staff and students are celebrating another year of improved results.
With the Government’s greater emphasis upon overall progress in all subjects studied by students to examination level, SRWA is pleased with this year’s results as they demonstrate a consistency of rigour and good achievement across the curriculum. From its low point of being in Special Measures the Academy has striven to ensure standards are improved in all facets of Academy life and especially examination success.
English Language Full Course (67%) and maths (58%) represent steady rises from last year and demonstrate the sustainable journey of improvement that SRWA is on. Other curricular areas including Spanish, Music, Sport, Health & Social Care, Additional Maths have all achieved 100% A*-C pass rates. Dance (93%), Film Studies (92%), Triple Science (80%), also demonstrates the success that has been achieved by the hard work of both students and staff. Other areas, such as French, have almost doubled the percentage of students achieving A*-C to 60% plus. History’s results have improved by more than a third to 63%.
Students that have performed especially well include:
Jamie Hull – 3 A*, 4 A, 1 B
Rosie Stanley – 1 A*, 5 A, 1 B
Connie Franks – 1 A*, 6 A, 1 B
Other students whose determination should be recognised as they achieved impressive results despite other pressures are:
Carl Moffatt – 4 A, 4 B
Parco Cheng – 1 A, 7 B
Peter Midwinter, Principal, said: “We are pleased that our headline GCSE figures have improved, with 6% more students gaining 5 A* to C with English and Maths. This reflects the very hard work put in by our students and staff.”
