16 - 19 Bursary and Tuition Fund
Bursary funds are available for students to support them in their education and to ensure they can access the materials and resources needed to continue to participate in post-16 education.
There are several bursaries we can offer.
1. Financial Hardship Bursary - where families earn below a threshold figure, they can apply for a bursary to support the purchase of items essential to support a student to remain in education. This can include books, resources, uniform/dress code items, and much more.
2. Discretionary Bursary - where there are shorter-term hardships that make remaining in education difficult, we can offer discretionary bursaries.
We do not specify an exact sum of money to support students but assess each student on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best use of funds to support as many students as possible.
Where possible, we arrange to purchase items for students. Students are able to keep what is purchased for them, except for any computers which must be returned to the Academy at the end of year 13 for use by other students who require bursary support.

16 - 19 Tuition Fund
At SRWA we have accessed government funds for students whose education has been impacted by the pandemic.
This funding is available to students who have less than a grade 5 in GCSE Maths or English, as well as those students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
For 2022*2023, we have not yet received the guidance of what the entitlement will be, but we will update this page when we have more information.
In the past, the funding has been to support small group tuition for students aged 16 to 19 in English, maths and other subjects that have been disrupted, including vocational and/or academic learning.
It provided access to two key tutoring systems which support students with their learning, depending on the subjects a student is studying and learning style preference.
In most instances, students accessed MyTutor, an online tutoring platform that pairs students one to one with a university student to provide personal tuition in their chosen subject. Students were assigned a tutor based on the subjects they were studying and the subject that requires the most support and intervention.
As the lessons were online, students can choose session times that fit with their post-16 study schedule, and these can be during non-contact hours during the day or in the evenings.
Student engagement and participation are measured and tracked to ensure efficient use of the tuition funding.
Students are contacted directly by the sixth form team to access these programmes.
